Name: Cherion tou Hephaestus, Heavy-Hand CherionAge: 21
Group: Demigod
Gender: Male
Sexual orientation: Homo
Tier: 1
Mythology: Greek
Immortal Parent: Hephaestus
OOC name: pantherasapiens
[attr="class","omgg"]
Appearance:
Cherion is a dark, swarthy lad standing about 6 feet tall and broadly muscled. He looks like he has spent many hours of heavy labour under the hot sun, and in a way he has. He has a slight squint from staring into forge-fires and sunlight. His speech and walk are slow, lumbering, and heavy. He wears a workman's leather smock over his other clothing, and binds his hair back from his face in a leather strip.
Personality:
Cherion is a slow-thinking, slow-moving man who arrives at conclusions with difficulty and abandons them even more slowly. He distrusts people who speak too fast and move about too quickly, believing them as fickle and light as their words and ideas. He prefers solitude and solid things to abstract talk and ideas, and prefers to remain silent and let his actions speak for him. This does not, however, make him a simple man, and anybody who underestimates his intelligence treads in dangerous waters.
History:
Cherion tou Hephaestus was born to a young woman in a village; if his mother had not known the identity of his father on the night that the lame smith-god took her, it became clear soon enough. By the age of ten, Cherion was repairing and improving carts, windows, doors, hinges, horseshoes, and everything else that was made or could be made in the smithy or carpenter's shop; by fifteen he was designing and building things for himself that nobody had imagined possible; and by twenty he found himself besieged by the village for favours on one hand and fending off the monsters that attacked with the other. Unable to cope with both, he left the village.
First Hammer of Cherion (Tier 1)
It is a simple claw hammer. Its handle is bound about with leather stamped with Cherion's name, and another strip of leather connects it to Cherion's belt; it rests in a loop of the belt when not in use. It will never rust or break, and will never miss a nail, whether to drive it in or to pull it out. It will always drive the nail perfectly in or pull it perfectly out in one movement, and will never need to strike the same nail twice.
The Understanding of Machinery (Tier 1)
Cherion tou Hephaestus can instinctively divine the workings of any tool or mechanism from simple observation, whether or not he has encountered any similar item or knows its purpose. He can further divine its status and, if it is broken or malfunctioning, the ways to restore it.
The Speech of Machinery (Tier 1)
Cherion tou Hephaestus has a way of speaking with tools or machinery. He may undo the effects of simple breakdowns due to wear and tear, or simulate the effects of such, for tools or machinery in his presence; but these effects end when the tools or machinery are away from him. An example of this might be that a rusty hinge may work as smoothly as a well-oiled, new hinge for Cherion, or vice-versa.
