Mythology: Egyptian
Immortal Parent: Ptah, god of craftsmen
[attr="class","omgg"]
Personality. + hard-working, careful, opportunistic, creative, confident
- manipulative, proud, messy, materialistic, revengeful
Physical Appearance. Claire is a slender, young woman standing at the height of 5'3, with red and thick past-shoulder length hair. Her hair is naturally messy. Most of the time she just let it loose. But while working, she liked it to be gathered into a ponytail, or most preferably, in a bun. Or else it might get burned by the fire if Claire just let it stick loose.
In her clothes, Claire liked to keep it light as much as possible. Short shorts, boots or rubber shoes, high-socks reaching her thighs, then a t-shirt as a top. The end of the story. She also carries around a sling bag containing some basic mechanic's tools--screwdriver, the like. She hides all that in a long, brown coat with a hoodie, when she's going out--basically becuse Aegyptos's weather is really harsh.
Birth. Claire was born in modern day America, right in the state of Washington, D.C. We'll not get into details because I don't really know it. Anyway, Claire was the youngest in Fermonte's family of six. They own a three-story building. The third floor is their main house, because the floors below were for their business--that was, all kinds of machinery workshops. They own a vulcanizing, they own a hardware store, a carwash, and appliance repair shop. You think a family of six won't be able to keep up with that many business? You're wrong. Claire's three older brothers and sisters were, like, ten years older than her. They already finished school, have stable jobs through their family business, and generally helping out nicely. Come to think of it, Claire was the only one in the family who wasn't making her own money yet.
The Fermonte family as distant relatives of a son of Hephaestus. Naturally, they were second generations, third generations of demigods, and have adopted the talents of Hephaestus when it came to working with metals and machines. Even though they didn't have those demigod abilities present in full demigods, since their ancestry had been into working in forges and such, then they simply have been taught the skills. The knowledge, wonders, and inquisition of Hephaestus, first set on his son, then passed through generation to generation. The Fermonte family well have that. Of course, the Fermonte's as of today didn't really know their history and relation to Hephaestus. They just welcomed their skills and talents openly.
Why Claire was born was another whole story. Sixteen years ago, the Fermonte family experienced a sudden downfall in terms of financial ability. It was the time when Claire's brothers and sisters are all into education. Claire's parents needed money to support the children. They realized working on their business wouldn't just do the job--they only had a repair shop that time, run by Claire's father--so her mother decided to venture to the world. She got accepted as a restorer in an Egyptian museum.
You can guess what happened. The god Ptah was watching over her restore an artifact that symbolized his name. The god was ready to do two things, and it depended to the finish product of Claire's mother. The choices were: A) Ptah will curse her if she worked poorly, or B) Ptah will leave her alone if she managed it just fine. When Claire's mother was done, and the god saw her work, a letter C came up in his plan. He'll reward the woman, because she had restored his artifact that well. And Claire's mother did it several more times. You can guess Ptah really admired the skills of the woman.
The god did not only reward Claire's mother with prosperity to her family regarding anything related to crafts, he also fell in love with her. Disguised as a normal, mortal man, he courted the woman until she fell in love with him, too. You guessed it, and nine months after, she gave birth to a healthy baby Claire. Claire's father knew this, and was angry at first. But hey, mistakes are mistakes, and besides, it's here. They loved each other that much. When Claire was born, Ptah, as a mortal, visited the two after disappearing all the time Claire's mother was pregnant. He gave the baby a working goggles as a parting gift, before he left for good. Gods weren't supposed to stick with mortals that long.
Did Claire's mother know that her fling was Ptah? The god refused to tell her. And just like that, the god was gone. Indeed, she was very confused about the goggles, but still, she kept it.
Claire got accepted to the family just fine.
Now, with Claire's father being the god of craftsmen, Ptah, and the legacy of the greek god Hephaestus in her, there were no surprises that Claire's talents and skills with her hands were extraordinary.
Lemuria. Well, before we get there, let's first discuss the growing-up Claire. She was growing up just fine... until her demigod scent began attracting monsters. The first monster attack was when she was thirteen. Horrible. The car their family was supposed to fix exploded in the fight. Yes, Claire fought. Her parents and siblings were yelling, 'what was that?!' since they don't have enough god blood in their veins to see through the mist. Their eyes were adjusting, never focusing on the monster. And Claire can see it just fine. So she took it upon herself to kill the monster by fidgeting through the car, setting up an explosive, and wrestling the monster inside. Just before the car exploded, Claire jumped out of the car, rolled, and then BOOM.
I know. Horrible. Yes, I know. More frequent monster attacks, and Claire couldn't just take it. She loved her family, and almost all the time they were put into danger. Claire was becoming desperate. She had no idea herself what was going on. She just kept fighting, using all her knowledge and wit to survive. One time, she faced a monster she had the most trouble to kill. Claire ran to the woods and killed the monster by building a metal cutter out of scraps she was toting around. Don't ask me how she did it--she just did. Exhausted, she stayed at the woods for a few days. Monsters attacked her, and she fended them off with a lot of bleeding. She wandered back to their home, and it seemed fine. Then she realized--she was attracting the monsters. As long as she was here, the Fermonte's will never be safe.
And so she left. She took the goggles her mother had given her, and she strayed in the streets for weeks. Ptah saw his daughter's hardships and her love for her family. Unknown to Claire, her father was guiding her to the realm of Lemuria. Along the way, Claire was learning. Different techniques, different inventions, innovation, knowledge. Slowly, slowly, until one day, Claire came to an entrance to the land. She didn't know where she was, she didn't know anything. Claire was disoriented, tired, desperate, just barely holding on.
Yet she have to pay the fee, right? She gained entrance to Lemuria by building a wicked delivery device that would spout out a hologram with your message. Cool, right?
Claire was now in Lemuria. Hooray! She found her real parentage after she got claimed by the god Ptah himself. Now, she was settled on Aegyptos, but occasionally leaving it to visit her mortal family.
See Through Goggles (Tier 1)
A gift from Ptah, given to Claire right before the god left permanently. This goggles had the ability to see through any machine. Sort of like x-rays. This is very helpful to Claire, since before she wold tinker through a machine, she already had an overview of its parts, what to with it, and the likes.
Magnetic hands (Tier 1)
Magnetic hands? Cool! Claire was able to magnet any small metal within a safe distance, preferably at least 5-10 meters away from her. She's got this ability, preferably to make her work as a mechanic that easier. She'll just have to held out her hand, see her metal of desire, and whooooosssshhh it goes to her hand. Right now, she can only magnet small metals, such as screwdrivers, nails, and the like.
Machine life-giver (Tier 1)
Well, not literal 'life' as in talking or breathing, like that. Life means Claire can make a machine work just with her concentration. Make a blender spin, or a ref to hum, things like that. Yeah, even without fuel, electricity, or a power source. Claire's godly powers were the power source of that machine. Claire can only give life to small, basic machines as of now, though, and can only keep it up for minutes. More of it and she'll most likely faint.
